BIO

My friends in Philly used to say to me, Yea sure, you'll become a deejay the day a man walks on the moon. Well I did become a deejay one month before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. So I won that bet. That was in 1969 when I took my first job in a little town in Delaware. Very small town, so small they didn't even have a Police department, just two big mirrors on each end of town. That's where I was introduced to Country music and also was given the name Country Chuck. In 1972 I took a morning position in Wilkes Barre, Pa., a Merv Griffin owned station, although I never did see him once during my stay there. That was a Top 40 oldies station, WBAX AM, my name there was Dan Dayton. Then in 1975, I was hired by KORK AM, after they answered my "position wanted" ad. It was an Adult Contemporary format and I was honored to be working with big guns in the business like Red McIllvaine and Walt Reno. I stayed there until 1977 when I took a position with KRAM Radio. They were 1340 on the dial. So here I was back in Country music again as Country Chuck. Between then and 1999, I've worked other formats such as Rock oldies and Big bands, Ballads and Broadway. Between then and 1999, I had worked for KORK four times under three different owners. Then in 1999 there was Country station, 101.9 KFM, where I started this Country Legend request show. I had suggested to my Program Director about doing this type show and she said OK, how 'bout doing 7 to Midnight Sundays nights. I said, "are you crazy, ain't nobody gonna call me on a Sunday night during those hours"! You know what, I was wrong, and here I am 12 years later, here at 102-7 The Coyote not only doing my Sunday morning show from 6 to 10 AM, but also a weekday at noon, Country Chucks' Country Legend Pick of the day. That's the radio side of my life, on the personal side in August I was blessed with the birth of my first grand child Alex Jacob. So, thanks for reading and stay tuned.
